Spiro has just secured a landmark $100 million investment, the largest in Africa’s electric mobility history.
This includes $ 75 million from the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), underscoring Spiro’s leadership in transforming sustainable transportation across the continent.
With this new funding, Spiro will expand its battery swapping infrastructure into new markets, strengthen its technology platform, and accelerate progress toward surpassing 100,000 deployed electric motorcycles by the end of 2025.
Together with African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Spiro continues to pioneer clean, accessible, and profitable mobility solutions made in Africa, for Africa, driving a new era of energy independence and economic opportunity.
Special thanks to FEDA for championing Africa’s sustainable mobility journey and making this landmark investment possible. Spiro is grateful for such progressive partnerships as we accelerate cleaner, affordable transport across Africa.
To date, Spiro has deployed over 60,000 electric motorcycles, set up over 1200 battery swapping stations and surpassed more than 26 million battery swaps with over 800 million kms of low-carbon emissions travelled, transforming mobility and economies through substituting expensive imported fossil fuel-based transportation with affordable and sustainble solutions in Africa. Spiro has also set up 4 assembling facilities in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Nigeria.
